NDIS now supports more than 692,000 Australians
The most recent NDIS quarterly report shows more than 692,000 Australians are now receiving disability-related supports through the National Disability Insurance Scheme — with more than 19,000 new participants joining during the latest quarter.
Year-on-year growth has decreased to 11.9%, down from 18.9% in 2023–24, reflecting the NDIA's continued focus on scheme sustainability while still expanding access.
Highlights from the latest quarter
- 692,000+ active participants — across every state and territory, including remote and very remote communities.
- 19,000 new participants joined in the most recent quarter alone.
- Scheme expenses for the 6 months to December 2024 were $22.9 billion — $390 million below the June 2024 projections.
- Outcomes are improving — participant satisfaction, access timeframes, and plan utilisation rates all moved in the right direction.
